George Wilson Born: March 17, 1946
George Wilson, a member artist of Creative Growth Arts Center
for artist with mental disabilities in Oakland, California, am is
a man of few words. He may merely offer a whispered comment as he
moves through the studio. His eyes and hands are always in motion
and his art reflects this. His drawings of dogs, horses, people
and places swirl in front of our eyes, charged with brilliant color
and kinetic energy.
Since 1990, Wilson has had many exhibitions at
the Creative Growth gallery as well as numerous outside exhibitions,
including “Wind in my Hair” at the American Visionary
Museu in Baltimore, MD (1996-7) and ”Visions from the Left
Coast” at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum in Santa
Barbara, CA (1995), and a number of gallery shows in and around
the San Francisco Bay Area.
